Spring owl

I seem to have lost track of the last time I had an owl of the month...I've been neglecting my owls!

Usually I have an owl of the month of a little beauty that I love but adore from afar (so that I stop myself becoming the mad old lady that collects owls!). This month, I have an owl that I actually own, courtesy of my lovely sister.

It's a very discreet little owl but full of character! It's a luggage tag that she bought from Paperchase and will cheer up a suitcase or holdall no end!

Owl of the New Year

I spotted this month’s owl of the month in Topshop this evening. I know, for someone who isn’t supposed to be shopping and spending money, what the hell am I doing on the high street two nights in a row?!

Tonight I was on a mission to find maternity tights and leggings – my winter layers are increasingly digging into my pregnant belly, so I hit the maternity departments of H&M and Topshop (and given I’ve just watched Mary Portas Secret Shopper, can report that H&M had huge queues everywhere and I was almost knocked over by an assistant being over-zealous/aggressive in manoeuvring a clothes rail through the shop! Topshop was on form, very nice, friendly staff and less than a minute to be served).

Anyway, the owl of January is this quirky ring, which is almost a cross between an owl and an alien. Brilliant! Probably something best saved for the evening, rather than a day in the office!

Owl of December

Hello Edna readers! Apologies again for such a slack week of blogging last week. I’m hoping that this week will be much, much better and I will have time for lovely fashion thoughts rather than too much of life’s stress invading every waking moment!

It was lovely to come back to my blog and see comments from my lovely readers! Even if I have neglected my blog this past week, you’ve kept reading...so thank you.

And I hope life isn’t too stressful for you all too...and that you're enjoying the Christmas week (and not freezing your arse off in a queue somewhere!).

I thought I’d start off this week’s blogging with something frivolous...my owl of the month. I did a little internet rambling recently and found a website that is a veritable feast of owls: www.boygirlparty.com

The site is from the US artist Susie Ghahremani, who clearly loves nature and features quirky animals across stationary, clothing, jewellery and lots of other bits and pieces. I loved it!

And of all the items on the site, this little notepad was my favourite at only $6.

Owl of the Month

It’s a new month, which means it’s time for a new owl!

November’s owl is a ceramic beauty in the classic Bitossi Rimini Blue range. I already own the sausage dog from the range – a present from Mr W to make up for not being able to have a real one at the moment!

I’m not someone for too many ornaments around the house – or ‘tranklements’ as my nan (Edna!) used to say – but do make an exception for a bit of Rimini Blue!

Owl of October

In one of my first ever posts, I talked about how great the jewellery was from the NW3 range at Hobbs. It’s still great, though they do need to update the stock a little more. I don’t think the range has changed very much over the past couple of months, which is disappointing when you visit again and it’s all still the same.

Still, at least the owl that I spotted a few months back is still there and can feature as October’s owl of the month!

They have owl earrings and an owl necklace but it’s the cuff that I love. The owl print isn’t so obvious...and it's twinned with another woodland creature...the squirrel (which in real life I am scared of and don’t like anywhere near me but in fashion I’d happily have on my wrist!).

It’s not too cutesy and the owl is quite subtle...so an owl for grown-ups!

Owl of the Month

I’ve mentioned before I have a love of owls. I’m not sure where it has come from and it seems to have crept up on me and grown over recent years. I find myself naturally gravitating to anything with an owl on it in any shop. Thankfully, I still have some self-control so that I’m not overloaded with owl apparel.

But, it could easily happen...especially when it comes to accessories. Just this past weekend I bought two owl necklaces (http://plixi.com/p/43030901) admittedly from Primark and only £1.50 a pop. But it’s a slippery slope and they join the owl brooch my lovely friend Lisa bought me. A collection is forming. And collecting is the path to proper mad lady eccentricity.

So, to counter this worrying trend I’m going to use the Edna blog to curtail the owl purchases. Welcome to the ‘Owl of the Month’. Every month I will share with you a wonderful little owl item that I would love to own but need to resist.

This month is homeware and this ridiculously cute Donna Wilson owl cushion. It comes in four different colours but I love the 1950s apple green.
